Cartagena – La Manga (Murcia) - New host city for XTERRA Spain Championship 2014
WHERE:
XTERRA Spain Championship 2014 changes host city to Cartagena – La Manga, Murcia due to logistical and organizational reasons.
WHEN:
Saturday, May 24th 2014. Please note – the original date of Sunday 25 May is impossible due to the European central government elections.
THE CHANGE:
Unfortunately, a complicated set of circumstances has made it impossible to offer the best conditions for athletes in Cieza. After much consideration it was determined that Cartagena – La Manga is the more suitable location in terms of infrastructure and logistics.
THANKS TO CIEZA:
We want to thank the Cieza Town Council for their support in making the XTERRA Spain dream come true in 2013. It was the help and support of the town and its people that turned XTERRA Spain 2013 into a successful and memorable event.
We will most certainly visit this wonderful city in the future.
AIRPORTS:
The Airports are still the same: Alicante Airport (119km) and Murcia San Javier Airport (34km). For international athletes, the new Cartagena – La Manga venue is closer to Alicante Airport, which will reduce transport cost.
ACCOMMODATION:
The Cartagena – La Manga area offers accommodation in a variety of hotels across price brackets. Our lady, Maria, has already lined up some awesome XTERRA specific deals on accommodation and rental cars for athletes and families. Email us today and we’ll put you in touch with Maria.
ASSISTANCE:
The Management of XTERRA Spain wants to apologize for any inconvenience and annoyance these sudden changes may cause you.
Management undertakes to personally contact each and all participants that are already entered in case they may need to change or adapt their bookings.
If needs to, we offer to manage your trip for you. Should you have difficulty in changing your hotel booking in Cieza, XTERRA Spain will arrange for transfer to Cartagena – La Manga for those participants who need it on race day.
We want to ensure that we offer you the best conditions and facilities to be able to enjoy another memorable race in Spain.
Our team is at your disposal for all inquiries and to offer assistance with your trip.
We thank you for your understanding and patience.
We are committed to giving XTERRA participants the best facilities for enjoying the XTERRA way of life!

Well.. nobody contacted me!
The first i heard was today when I get an email offering me accommodation in La Manga.
I was just about to reply asking why I was being offered accommodation 110km away from Cieza, when i thought I’d better check the website.
When I write to the lovely Maria asking why I hadn’t been told, she replied that she only deals with travel so she can’t help me!!
So.. your undertaking to personally contact each and all participants ?????? What happened??
Beneficial facts. Fortunate enough us I came across your site accidentally, for stunned the reason this incident didn’t transpired previously! We added this.
You’re so awesome! I do not think I’ve truly read through a single thing like this before. So great to discover someone with some unique thoughts on this subject matter. Seriously.. thank you for starting this up. This site is something that is required on the web, someone with some originality!
