The Euro season finishes in Prangins, Switzerland just outside Geneva, on September 8. Most of the 2013 Championship crowns are up for grabs and this race will determine the winners in many of them.
The pro men’s championship will depend on this race. Nico Lebrun and Asa Shaw are mathematically tied coming into Swiss and young Alexander Haas can take it if Lebrun or Shaw falter. For the women pros, Helena Erbenova would need a complete meltdown to lose but Carina Wasle and Maud Golsteyn could catch2nd place Jacqui Slack. Again it will come down to who finishes where in Switzerland.
For the age group contenders there are many races not decided. Keep in mind it is the best three finishes that count points for the age group racer. The tie breaker goes - first to the person with most wins and -second to the person who finishes best at the last race. If you are tied and both have a win – the person who finishes on top at Swiss is the European Champion.
Beyond the championship, the location at Prangins is beautiful. You swim in famous Lac Leman, bike and run through pristine forests, have some very unusual water crossings and run directly by 7 time Grand Prix World champion Michael Schumacher’s house. A great after party keeps everyone dancing well into the night. The organization is first class. And your last chance to qualify for the XTERRA world championship at Maui is here.
